Burrenmore Nest: Honest Review 2025
If you’ve ever looked into a glamping trip or a staycation in Northern Ireland, you’ve probably come across Burrenmore Nest.
It’s one of the most luxurious sites in the whole country, and having only opened in the last few years, it’s one of the newest and most modern options too.
But what exactly is it like to stay at Burrenmore Nest? Is it worth the money? Is it really as romantic as the photos look?
These are questions I had in my head before staying in Robin’s Perch in January 2025. So make sure to read on to find out I found my stay.
Burrenmore Nest Review
First and foremost, for the sake of transparency, I will put it out there that my stay at Burrenmore Nest was gifted in return for providing photos for marketing. They are the same photos which you can see throughout this blog post, so I like to think I did a good job 😉.
But rest assured, everything which I say in this blog post is my own opinion and is not influenced by the fact that I did not pay for my night in the lodge.

Okay, now into my actual thoughts on Burrenmore Nest.
As someone who has visited over 30 countries in the last two years, staying in hundreds of different hotels, hostels, Airbnbs and any other form of accommodation you can imagine, Burrenmore Nest may just be the best place I have ever stayed.
It’s just perfect. Genuinely.
There’s a reason that it’s so popular for proposals, honeymoons and romantic getaways and that is because it’s even better in real life than it is in the photos.

From champagne on arrival, to a private secluded forest bath hot tub, to the sauna, outdoor shower, s’mores by the firepit, home cinema projector, and even the local breakfast, everything is aimed at ensuring you have an incredible night with your special half.
Another big bonus is that 2 of the 4 lodges are pet friendly – so if you can’t find a pet sitter, you can bring your dog along with you. They even get their own bed too!
But back to the human aspect, I genuinely can’t say enough good things about Burrenmore Nest.
The whole vibe of the place is just perfect. It’s peaceful in the forest, but filled with ambience too.

There are lights on the trees outside the lodges which makes the forest dance, which is hypnotising to watch from the forest bath.
I also really liked how organised the place was. I’m someone who very much likes things to be structured and in order, and things definitely were at Burrenmore Nest.
Before you arrive, you will be sent a Google Form to fill in where you can fill in information which will allow the staff to make your stay as memorable as possible.
It includes things like what time you would like your hot tub at (that’s right, you don’t even need to heat it up yourself); if there are any special requests you have; and one which is close to my heart, any food allergies.

This is for the breakfast in the morning and it was refreshing to see this question asked as someone who grew up with food allergies and as someone whose girlfriend has a severe egg allergy, it’s good to see somewhere take the topic as seriously as it should be taken.
They even gave us blueberries instead of eggs for our breakfast to make sure we were not missing out on anything, it’s the small touches that really count and really make a place stand out.
And they have nailed the small touches. You are greeted on arrival by the Site Manager (who has champagne to kick start your stay). There is a postcard in your room with a personalised message written on it. You get a knock on the door when your hot tub is ready. The Site Manager starts the campfire each evening for you to enjoy toasting marshmallows and making s’mores.

Oh and one more thing, everything in your room is controlled by Alexa. The lights, the cinema projector (which you connect to via Chromecast), the blinds, everything is Alexa. And don’t worry, they have remotes and switches too if Alexa refuses to understand your accent like she does with me.
They have truly thought of everything to make Burrenmore Nest as good as possible, and that’s why it’s considered a luxurious stay, and that’s why the price is high.
Usually, I would travel on a budget. But sometimes I do like to enjoy a night away in somewhere luxurious, I think I appreciate it even more when I have been staying in dorm rooms with loads of other people snoring.
Some might say that the budget mindset stuck with me though as rather than going out for dinner or ordering a takeaway, we decided to cook a meal using the kitchenette in the lodge.

The facilities are all spotless and work really well. Unlike a lot of places, it didn’t take 10 minutes to figure out how to use the microwave.
We made a nice home-cooked pasta meal and it turned out really nicely. So if you enjoy cooking or want to spend as much time as possible in the lodge, then don’t worry, you definitely can!
But as much as the lodges are extraordinary, the surrounding area is also worth exploring, particularly if you aren’t from Northern Ireland, or if you haven’t spend a lot of time along the North Coast.
Burrenmore Nest is just a few minutes away from Musenden Temple, which is one of the most photographed locations in all of Ireland.

You can also easily reach Castlerock, Coleraine and anywhere else along the famous North Coast.
As for the lodges themselves, they’re surrounded by 82 hectares of forest where you can find loads of walking trails, rivers, waterfalls and even the widest tree in Northern Ireland – fun one to tick off to say you’ve seen!
I’ve pretty much ticked off everything I have to stay about Burrenmore Nest by now except for two things, both animal related.

Firstly, we stayed in Robin’s Perch lodge and I can definitely see where it gets it’s name. There was a wee robin constantly at the door trying to get in – I guess he knows it’s his perch after all.
Secondly, there are peacocks roaming about. Pretty cool! And as someone who does wildlife photography as a hobby, there were lots of other small birds about too which was fun.
So to summarise, Burrenmore Nest is about more than just the room.

As lovely as the king sized beds are, and the whole interior of the lodge was super romantic and homey, ultimately, you’re also paying for the experience.
The hot tub amongst the forest with the dancing lights. The sauna. The outdoor shower. The campfire. The s’mores. The breakfast. All of the little details I’ve mentioned throughout this post.
That’s what makes Burrenmore Nest stand out, and that’s why I would genuinely recommend it to everyone.
Everyone in Northern Ireland should stay there at least once in their life.
FAQs
Burrenmore Nest is on the Burrenmore Road, hence the name. It’s just a few minutes’ drive from Castlerock, and less than a few minutes’ from Musenden Temple. It’s a beautiful part of the country and the actual lodges are part of an 82-hectare forest.
Yes, in my opinion, Burrenmore Nest is worth the money. You are paying for more than just the lodge. It’s about the complete experience which includes a forest bath hot tub, sauna, outdoor shower, toasting marshmallows and more.
Each lodge has its own private forest bath hot tub which you get one use of per night. There is also a sauna and outdoor shower to use between 6pm and 9pm. It’s a super relaxing night away in County Londonderry.
Final Thoughts
And there you have it, a complete and in-depth review of my stay at Burrenmore Nest.
I had an amazing stay – it’s definitely set the standard high for other luxury accommodation in Northern Ireland.
As I said earlier in the article, I would really encourage everyone to stay there at least once. It’s thee perfect night away with your loved one (or ones, if you bring a dog).
Thank you again to Nick, the owner of Burrenmore Nest, for inviting me to stay, and I am sure that one day I will be back to stay again.
