Mariuccia, Rome: 2025 Restaurant Review & Tips
A trip to Rome would not be complete without some delicious and authentic Italian food, right?
Mariuccia is given a very good reputation, but how good actually is the restaurant?
You’ve come to the right article as during my trip to Rome, I had a meal in Mariuccia.
To help other travellers and diners, I have created a complete and honest review of the restaurant along with some top tips for your meal.
Mariuccia: Review
If you are short on time, no problem, I’ll summarise this article into one sentence: Mariuccia definitely lives up to the hype. I have had a lot of pizzas in Italy, but the best one has been at Mariuccia.
So yes, as you can tell, I am a big fan of the restaurant. I had a really positive experience there. To be honest, I hadn’t heard of it until me and a friend I made at my hostel found it on Google maps. But I’m so glad we did.
We went for lunch and had the meal of a lifetime. First of all, Mariuccia is in a great location. It’s very close to a lot of the main attractions. For example, we found it on Google while sitting in Piazza Navona looking for somewhere to eat.
There was no queue when we arrived and got a table instantly. It’s worth noting that I visited Rome in December, and it was lunchtime. It may get busier in the summer and at dinnertime.
One of the first things I noticed was that there were Italians and Rome locals dining at Mariuccia. For me, this is an immediate sign that the restaurant serves great food. The locals aren’t going to eat some below-par and overpriced food aimed at tourists. They want authentic and affordable Italian food.
So as the saying goes, “when in Rome, do as the Romans do”, and the Romans enjoy dining here.
As with most restaurants in Rome, there’s no shortage of options on the menu. There are up to 8 courses in Italian cuisine, so as you can imagine, the menus are pretty thick!
I decided to go basic (but you can’t go wrong with basic, right?) and ordered a Margherita pizza. Take a look for yourself…

As I said in the first sentence, it was the best pizza I have ever had. No doubt in my mind. From the tomato sauce to the mozzarella, every bite I had was delicious. My mouth is watering looking back on it. I wish I lived in Rome just so I could eat this pizza more often.
There’s a reason that Mariuccia is rated 4.5/5 on Google, it serves good food!
My friend opted for a pizza that I can’t remember the name of but she said it was delicious too. Although she made me try an olive which I sincerely regret!

On top of the tasty pizzas, one of the best parts about our meal was that it was really affordable too. My pizza only cost €8. An absolute steal! I was visiting Rome on a budget so I was over the moon to find cheap but yummy food.
Compared to other restaurants in Rome which would charge an arm and a leg for a pizza less luscious than those of Mariuccia. They should definitely up their prices, but I’m not complaining!
Another big positive about our experience was the staff and service. The service was above anything one could ask for. The servers were polite, attentive and friendly. And our pizzas arrived in like 10 minutes– that’s unheard of in Rome!
All in all, Mariuccia is an incredible restaurant in Rome. One you have to try during a trip to the city. I can’t recommend it enough! 10/10.
Mariuccia: Menu Options
As I said before, Italian cuisine has a lot of courses, meaning any menu in Italy will have a lot of options for you, Mariuccia is no different.
To be honest, the first time you get a menu in Italy, you may be a bit overwhelmed. But after you dive in and start to read through, things will naturally catch your eye.
It’s impossible to show the full menu for the restaurant, but here are a few snippets so you can see what sort of meals are on offer. There’s something for everyone!

The menus have icons and symbols to show what ingredients are used in each dish, making it easy for people with allergies to see what they can and can’t have. As someone with a nut allergy, I appreciate restaurants that accommodate this.
Mariuccia: Tips For Your Visit
To make the most of your visit and meal at Mariuccia, I have provided 5 top tips to know before your meal.
- You can book a table: If you want to ensure you will walk right in and get a table, you can pre-book a table. But if you don’t, you won’t be waiting too long. The tables free up quickly. And there is a bar where you can enjoy some drinks before your meal.
- If you are drinking water, ask for tap water: Rome’s tap water is completely safe to drink, and it tastes really fresh too. If you don’t ask for tap water, you will get a really fancy glass bottle and have to pay for it at the end.
- Tipping in Rome is done in cash: Although it’s not mandatory to tip in Rome, if you want to thank exceptional service with a tip, you do it in cash, even if you pay by card.
- Eat earlier than the locals: The locals have their meals very late, with dinner between 8 and 10 pm. If you eat earlier than this, there will be a shorter wait for your table.
- Ask the servers questions: Mariuccia’s staff are really helpful and friendly and are happy to provide help and tips about anything to do with Rome and your trip!
Is Mariuccia Expensive?
In my opinion, Mariuccia is not expensive at all. As I said, I had the most delicious pizza ever and it only cost me €8! A bargain, to say the least.
Google prices the restaurant at €10-20 per person, which I would say is fair enough depending on what dishes you order.
For the price, the food is definitely worth the value. It’s so tasty, and I would pay a lot more than the asking price!
There are restaurants in Rome that would charge double, maybe even triple what Mariuccia charges, and the food wouldn’t be as good.
So, no, it’s not expensive. And the food is more than worth the money.
Is Mariuccia Vegetarian Friendly?
Yes, Mariuccia is vegetarian-friendly. Being a vegetarian in Italy is pretty easy as you can always have a Margherita pizza or plain pasta, as a last resort.
The menu clearly marks which dishes and meals are suitable for vegetarians so you can see what you can and can’t have.
But don’t just take my word for it, here is a review from a Vegetarian who has visited Mariuccia.

Is Mariuccia Vegan Friendly?
Mariuccia markets itself as Vegan friendly, and the menu, once again, clearly states which dishes are appropriate for vegans.
There are also gluten-free options so it’s definitely possible to enjoy a vegan meal at Mariuccia.
Again, don’t just take my word for it. Here is a review from a vegan who visited the restaurant.

Is Mariuccia Good With Allergies?
Yes, Mariuccia is very good with allergies. The menu has symbols and icons showing common allergens included in each dish.
It’s also possible to remove some ingredients if you are allergic. I know this first-hand as my friend had bacon removed from her pizza as she is a Muslim. So it’s good to know that the restaurant also accommodates ingredient changes.
So if you have any allergies, just let your server know and they will be more than happy to accommodate. Of course, remember to carry any medication you need too. Better to be safe than sorry.
