Sunset Cruise Dubrovnik: Best Tour Review 2024

Wondering whether it’s worth it to take a Dubrovnik Sunset Cruise?

You’ve come across the right article as I’m going to give a complete review of my experience taking a sunset cruise in Dubrovnik.

During a 2 week trip to different parts of Croatia, my girlfriend and I had 3 days in Dubrovnik towards the end of our trip.

We wanted to do something romantic and decided a sunset tour was the best idea.

And now, I’ve created this blog post to tell you exactly what I thought.

So let’s get right into it! 🙂

Sunset Cruise Dubrovnik: Review

We decided to book the Private Dubrovnik Sunset Boat Tour with Rewind Dubrovnik. After seeing the company featured in the likes of Travel+Leisure and Amazon Prime’s “The Travel Hunk”, I knew Rewind Dubrovnik were a very reputable company with excellent tours.

If you don’t want to read this whole article and instead want a quick opinion, here you go: It was amazing. I can’t recommend it enough. My expectations were high, and they were completely exceeded. One of the best tours I have ever taken, no doubt about it.

The sunset during our Sunset Cruise in Dubrovnik.

The tour is advertised as the perfect romantic evening for any couple visiting Dubrovnik, and that’s exactly what it was.

Our skipper and guide, Filip, was incredible and set the atmosphere from the get-go with romantic music, comfy pillows and blankets, drinks, and an extremely friendly personality.

I was 20 at the time of taking the tour and he was 23, so the atmosphere was really nice. But I imagine the atmosphere is amazing for anyone of any age.

And if you were wondering, yes, you can have anything to drink. Beer, wine, champagne, no problem at all. Water or iced tea? No problem.

The tour begins in the Old Town Port and starts with a panoramic view of the buildings just outside the Old Town of Dubrovnik. Filip gave us lots of history about Dubrovnik and pointed out some of the most important buildings.

Like this villa, Villa Sheherezade, which is the most expensive place to stay in all of Croatia and is the place for celebrities seeing the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo staying in recent years.

A picture of Villa Sheherezade. It's a white building with a blue dome on the top. It looks similar to a mosque, but it's a villa.

After sailing along the coast, you go around Lokrum Island, a nature reserve just a 10-minute ferry from Dubrovnik. It’s absolutely beautiful and getting a view of the natural beauty of Lokrum with the man-made beauty of Dubrovnik in the background is perfect.

What’s great about choosing Rewind Dubrovnik for your Dubrovnik sunset cruise is that you can bring your swimwear and get into the water. They even have fins and snorkels on board which you can borrow to make the most out of your time swimming.

If you want to go one step further, you can even pay to add-on using their underwater scooters which are incredibly fun to use.

As you reach the outer side of Lokrum Island, that’s when you get your first glimpse at the gorgeous sunset. Personally, I love sunsets anywhere in the world, but the one in Dubrovnik was absolutely beautiful. Take a look for yourself.

I think the sunset alone is enough to say “Yes, this tour is worth taking“, but the whole experience of getting a private Dubrovnik sunset tour removes any doubt from the imagination.

Sitting in the front of the boat cuddling my girlfriend as the sun sets over the sea with a beautiful view of Dubrovnik, the walled city, is a moment I’ll cherish forever.

You get to spend a good part of the tour cruising along the open water taking in the stunning views. I’d estimate 30 minutes or more (the tour is 90 in total) to enjoy the views. After all, it’s the main attraction, right? And it’s also the perfect time to pop open the champagne!

And the last part of the tour is back into the Old Town Port, but by this point, the city is lit up, and seeing the lights from the water is another memorable moment for me.

If you’re looking for romance, it doesn’t get much more romantic than this. I can’t thank Filip (our skipper) and the rest of the team at Rewind Dubrovnik enough. From start to finish, I had an amazing experience.

Taking this sunset cruise was the perfect end to an unforgettable trip to Croatia. What an extraordinary country it is, what a special place Dubrovnik is, and what a magical tour the Private Dubrovnik Sunset Boat Tour is.

Rewind Dubrovnik Review

During a two-week trip to Croatia where I took lots of water-based tours like visiting the Blue Lagoon from Split and visiting the Pakleni Islands, I ended my trip with a sunset cruise in Dubrovnik.

We (me and my girlfriend) opted for Rewind Dubrovnik, and we are so glad we did. We had the best time ever and couldn’t have chosen a better company to use.

From beginning to end, everything was perfect. The communication was great, and there were clear instructions on where to meet for our cruise.

After meeting in the Old Town Port, we had the most amazing 90 minutes with Filip, our skipper. If you want a complete review of the tour, scroll up.

But in terms of Rewind Dubrovnik, they were excellent and I can understand why they are so highly thought of. There are few tours where I have been taken aback. As a full-time traveller, I find most tour companies are “adequate”, but Rewind Dubrovnik are different.

They go above and beyond to make sure you have an amazing time. It’s the little things like being asked to re-take pictures as you didn’t like the first ones and them having no problems with it or the friendly conversations you have between fact tellings.

And to be honest, it was just good vibes. I feel like I have a pretty good judge of character, and everyone at Rewind Dubrovnik was really nice. If you’re visiting Dubrovnik, I’d strongly recommend checking them out.
